UC Clermont College Student Ambassador
During my sophomore year at UC Clermont, I learned was launching a brand new program called "Student Ambassador". I did not know much about the position nor did I know what I was getting myself into. All I knew was that they were looking for people who would love the opportunity to engage the UC Clermont community, by giving tours to prospective students and their respective families. I was very excited about being able to make a difference in and impact people's lives.
As an ambassador, I got to share my experience at UC Clermont with prospective students from a student’s perspective. Along the way, I learned to improve my leadership skills, learned how to answer difficult questions, learned the importance of having good communication skills, and more. Overall, I feel like I was able to impact and influence the big decision that prospective students had to make. I remember always sharing this with them: "Just like life, College is what you make of it. If you want it to be memorable in a great way, then go out and make it happen!"
I am walking away from this experience knowing that I can impact people's lives through the experiences I have had. I have a unique story to tell. Although I do not like to share too much about myself (for privacy reasons), I have never shied away from sharing my story with people. I want them to learn from my experience, my successes, but more importantly, my mistakes and failures so they can avoid them. I feel more confident leading people and taking charge.
